Often in your fifties or sixties, age changes begin to be serious and medical procedures or even some minor surgical procedures may not be enough to restore your youthful image. Am I a good candidate for advanced facelift, SMAS FACELIFT and DEEP PLANE FACELIFT in Madrid and Valencia?

Candidates for an advanced facelift procedure should have from light to severe sagging facial and neck changes, be in good general health, and have realistic expectations. They should not suffer from skin, infectious, immune diseases, hypertension or uncontrolled diabetes. It is strongly recommended not to smoke from 1 month before surgery to 1 month after surgery.

Dr. Villamarín will meet with each patient individually to determine if they may benefit from an advanced facelift. The deep plane facelift is usually reserved for patients with severe face and neck deterioration. During this consultation, a thorough examination of the forehead, face and neck in general will be carried out. The objectives, benefits, results and alternatives without surgery will be discussed with Dr. Villamarín and then he will design a detailed and adapted treatment plan or tailor made for each patient. In the case of surgery, a preoperative procedure will be ordered and postoperative recommendations will be provided in accordance with the protocol for said procedure.

The procedure.

There are a large number of techniques in advanced facelift surgery. Usually, Dr. Villamarín prefers in most cases the DEEP PLANE FACELIFT (assisted with endoscopy in selected cases), a facial lifting that could be applied from light to severe cases of face and neck sagging and that lifts an advanced and deeper SMAS flap up to the nasolabial fold and with release of the facial ligaments, solving the problems of sagging. In some select cases, Dr. Villamarín and his team may use other SMAS FACELIFT procedures that also offer excellent results.

For all procedures, he uses an incision hidden behind the tragus and behind the ear, but the architecture depends on many factors, including age, gender, and degree of sagging. The complex superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) of the face and neck is dissected, all of which can be combined with 3D volumizing fat transfer (lipofilling), if necessary. With this, we elevate the lateral periocular region, the cheeks and falls of the jaw and neck area. A minimally invasive hidden submental incision allows for neck enhancement, especially if contained lipectomy and platysmaplasty are applied. Age, sex, type of problem and associated problems, as well as some other parameters, are key in deciding which technique to use.

Post Procedure Care

After the procedure, we will begin medication and post-operative recommendations and you will return to the comfort of your home or hotel room. Medications, physical measures, and cold packs will be used to reduce swelling for the first two days after the procedure. Hilotherapy, as well as the hyperbaric chamber are innovative treatments that promote healing in the postoperative period and that Dr. Villamarín optionally recommends after some of his procedures. Recovery is mainly related to swelling and in rare cases with bruising. Recovery typically takes 3-4 weeks, depending on the procedures performed, and we recommend planning 4 weeks off work or social engagements to allow plenty of time to recover.

Minor swelling continues to improve steadily for up to several weeks after the procedure. Exercise can be resumed 4 weeks after the procedure, depending on the nature of the activity and the degree of inflammation involved.
