Summary of general postoperative instructions for surgical procedures:

This is an indicative summary of general postoperative instructions prepared by Dr. Villamarín. At the right time, Dr. Villamarín will provide the patient to be treated with clear and really exhaustive information on all the steps to follow in each phase of the rejuvenation process, whether medical or surgical or a combination of the two modalities.

Diet: A high protein, low carbohydrate, low sodium diet is recommended for 10-14 days. On the other hand, soft food is preferable or avoid chewing during the first days of procedures near the jaw or mouth.

Sleeping position: It is advisable to sleep on your back and with your head and shoulders raised on two or three pillows. To avoid rolling over, place a pillow under each arm.

Postoperative Medications: At the initial discharge, Dr. Villamarín will sign the prescription for the medications necessary for the procedures performed, which may include analgesics, antibiotics, antivirals, anti-inflammatory drugs, or others. In general, paracetamol is recommended, 1 gram tablet every 6-8 hours, for 2-3 days, but there are other options. Remember to eat something before taking the medication prescribed by Dr. Villamarín. This will help prevent nausea. Laxatives can be used to relieve constipation, if it occurs.

Ice application: After surgery, the intermittent application of ice on the operated area, protecting the skin with gauze or other barriers and following the indications and schedule provided by Dr. Villamarín, is an excellent way to relieve swelling.

Daily Life: You may resume driving after three to five days, if you are comfortable and alert and have good vision, but it depends on the procedure. There are medications that can alter the ability to drive or operate heavy machinery. Some activity is allowed, such as walking. Gymnastics, running, athletics, tennis, swimming, jogging or golf, for example, are not allowed for four weeks.

Check-ups: It depends on each case, but usually appointments will be made to be seen the day after surgery, a week and a month after surgery, at 6 months and a year, to make sure that you are healing properly. The schedule depends on each operation.

The patient will be provided with a list of alerts and an exclusive contact route for patients operated on by Dr. Villamarín, so that they can immediately contact us (24/7) and be able to solve any eventuality.
