What is a mini facelift?

Am I a good candidate for the mini facelift in Madrid and Valencia?

Candidates for a Madrid and Valencia mini facelift procedure should have moderate facial and neck sagging changes, be in good general health, have mild facial aging changes, and have realistic expectations. They should not suffer from skin, infectious, immune diseases, hypertension or uncontrolled diabetes. It is strongly recommended not to smoke from 1 month before surgery to 1 month after surgery. The patient must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.

Dr. Villamarín will meet with each patient individually to determine if they can benefit from a Madrid and Valencia mini facelift. During this consultation, a thorough examination of the forehead, face and neck in general will be carried out. The objectives, benefits, results and alternatives without surgery will be discussed with Dr. Villamarín and then he will design a detailed and adapted treatment plan or tailor made for each patient. In the case of surgery, a preoperative procedure will be ordered and postoperative recommendations will be provided in accordance with the protocol for the procedure.

What kind of anesthesia do we use?

Local anesthesia with sedation.

The procedure.

There are some variations of the procedure. Dr. Villamarín prefers an incision hidden behind the ear tragus and also behind the ear, but the incision architecture depends on many factors, including age, sex, and degree of sagging. After flap dissection, vertical suspension surgical sutures are usually used to elevate the complex superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) of the face and neck, all of which is usually combined with volumizing centrofacial lipofilling. With this, we elevate the lateral periocular region, the cheeks and falls of the jaw and neck area. A minimally invasive hidden submental incision allows for neck enhancement, especially if contained lipectomy and platysmaplasty are applied. Age, sex, type of problem and associated problems, as well as some other parameters, are key in deciding which technique to use.

Post Procedure Care

After the procedure, we will begin medication and post-operative recommendations and you will return to the comfort of your home or hotel room. Medications, physical measures, and cold packs will be used to reduce swelling for the first two days after the procedure. Hilotherapy, as well as the hyperbaric chamber, are innovative treatments especially indicated for patients with cardiovascular problems and ex-smokers, which favor postoperative healing and that Dr. Villamarín optionally recommends after some of his procedures. There will be follow-up as per protocol to monitor healing and make sure all your questions are answered.

Recovery

Recovery is mainly related to swelling and in rare cases with bruising. Recovery typically takes 3-4 weeks, depending on the procedures performed, and we recommend planning 4 weeks off work or social engagements to allow plenty of time to recover.

Minor swelling continues to improve steadily for up to several weeks after the procedure. Exercise can be resumed 4 weeks after the procedure, depending on the nature of the activity and the degree of inflammation involved.

What to expect from the mini facelift?

The mini facelift gives excellent results and will eliminate moderate to severe cases of facial neck sagging. In short, it softens facial expression lines and restores a rejuvenated and long-lasting presence.

How long will the result last?

It depends on the case. In general, the first effects are usually seen in 4 weeks and the result usually lasts 6-8 years. Maintenance is required.

Aging produces progressive changes in all subunits of the face and neck. Skin changes are accompanied by thinning and drooping of facial structures. When the alteration affects the entire face and neck, a global approach of lifting and volumizing or even liposculpture of the face is better.
